Mixed beans for 2.26.12

Mixed beans for 2.26.12

The fact that I’m writing my weekly recap post early Sunday morning instead of Friday afternoon probably tells you all you need to know about my week.

What a week!  My oldest out of school, the three year old with just two mornings of daycare, and a husband who ended up out of town for a few days.  Busy, busy with plenty of early mornings and late nights to spice things up.  We kicked off the week with a made up holiday that involved a couple of gifts for the kids, meals made up of their favourite foods and time spent together.  There was a lot of hide and seek, tag, forts, piles of pillows to jump in, movies, games, books and this is one mama who will send her much adored children back to school and daycare tomorrow with a happy heart and a need to catch up on work and rest!

I took much of the week off, but there was still time to do a few things.

I wrote Say goodbye to laundry chaos over on the Electrolux Canada blog in the hopes that we can all get our laundry routines organized and stop letting it take over our lives.  Seriously, when did laundry become a hobby?  Surely we have better things to do.

I wrote a post here on the Little Miss Mocha blog called Hard questions.  If you missed it, come find out why I think we should be happy when our kids ask the hard questions, even when it’s difficult or awkward.  I share a hard question my son asked me – I’d love to hear if you’ve ever squirmed to answer anything yourself?  What are your kids asking?

I sent in my RSVP to see Miss Representation here in Saskatoon - an evening that will surely be full of interesting panel discussions and conversations.

I joined the Social Media Girlfriends after seeing some great women engaging and discussing on Twitter.  Looking forward to getting to know these uber-connected women better!

I’m still taking part in the 28 Day Sugar Detox with Domestic Diva, and though I lost a bit of time when I was really sick a couple of weeks ago, I’m back on a roll and am still very pleased with what I’ve learned so far.  I’ve made some good changes to what I’m eating, have added and upgraded, and all their steps and suggestions have been very helpful.

And as you know, the voting is still open on the Canadian Family Readers’ Choice Awards - I have a story called The Overflowing Life nominated and would love you to check it out and vote if you have yet to do so!

Well, I hope a fantastic week awaits us all.  I have loved the lazier mornings and more time with the kids, but will be happy to get some of my own routine back.

Were your kids out of school last week?  Or is their break coming up?  How do you manage?
