This is your New York!
Actually, this is my New York, from two years ago. But I’m good at sharing. ; )
It’s official! BlogHer ’12 is upon us and New York City awaits! This conference is growing every year – over 4000 attendees will be at this one! I’m so excited to be going – I bought my ticket well in advance knowing there was a chance I wouldn’t go. We’re in the middle of planning a relocation, and sometimes plates get so full they tip over.
I wouldn’t miss it unless I absolutely had to, though. The exchange of energy that takes place when that many people get together is just immeasurable. It is fuel for my writing, for my mind, for my spirit. I love to connect with people offline and face-to-face after so much online conversation. That it is taking place in NYC again is just icing on the proverbial cake. Which I definitely recommend having with coffee – after all, BlogHer is a marathon of talking, laughing, listening, thinking, and exploring. You’ll need to be ready!
And this year – oh, boy, Katie Couric, Martha Stewart, Christy Turlington-Burns, and Barack Obama via live satellite feed? Excitement is running pretty high!
I hope to see as many of my favourite people as I can, and to meet some new faces as well. I’ve definitely met new people in the year since BlogHer ’11 in San Diego, so I’m really hoping we can connect even though there will be so much going on!
So I’m trying to catch up and keep track – who’s going to BlogHer this week? When do you arrive? If you are, please let me know in the comments because I’m going to be watching for familiar faces…but what a crowd we’ll be in! I don’t want to miss you, but I keep asking people randomly, and I know I’ll never remember. So hit me up and let me know so I know to watch for you Wednesday night or Thursday, and please, if we haven’t met before – don’t be shy! Come say hello, introduce yourself (yes please with Twitter handle!)
I think I’m ready – electronics are charging, clothes are ready to go, kitchen stocked with food, and things are mostly organized at home (as organized as they have to be for a husband who cooks and cleans! Let’s just say I’m going to handle any paperwork that needs to be dealt with and leave the rest up to him.)
If you have a peek up top, you’ll see I also have a new header, just in time for BlogHer! I’ve been in mid-makeover for a while, but the weeks of summer have been slipping by. Then I won business cards through the lovely Loukia or @MrsLoulou as you may know her on Twitter. She ran a giveaway on her blog and I ended up with new cards designed by the lovely Lindsay of Grace Announcements. I’ll be bringing them to NYC!
So where will you find me? I fly in Wednesday night, and am staying until Sunday. I’ll be at the Hilton, so you can bet I’ll be around all weekend long. I should be at all the major keynotes, as I don’t want to miss the amazing lineup of speakers and guests that have been lined up! I’ll be at the Chevrolet Official Canadian Party on a fabulous rooftop, of course, and I never miss hitting the dance floor at Sparklecorn, and usually pop into most of the other official events. You’ll also find me in writing sessions, though this year I’m having trouble choosing what to attend. (Okay, who am I kidding, I have trouble deciding every year!)
If all else fails, check by the nearest source of caffeine. I never miss drinking coffee or grabbing a bite to eat, so if you see someone that looks like me hovering over the coffee machines or carrying a Starbucks cup…yes, it’s me!
(Sidebar: yes, I also answer to Mocha in many cases if you can’t think of my first name on the spot…don’t be shy.)
Can’t wait to see you in NYC!
I can’t wait to meet you! I will be arriving first thing tomorrow morning, and will be at the Chevrolet OCP too.
Great! Please say hi if you see me first! ; )
Can’t wait to see you Jen! I’m arriving just in time for the #ChevroletOCP – will definitely see you there and collect a hug!
You got it, lady!
